International Youth Day (IYD) is celebrated annually on 12 August. Since 1999 when the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the recommendation by the World Conference of Ministers of Youth to declare this day, it has served as a powerful reminder of the significant role young people play in shaping a sustainable future. This year, the theme is “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” focusing on how young people drive digital technologies to advance progress toward achieving the SDGs.
4-H Nepal has been observing IYD since its establishment in 2014 with the specific theme and motive every year. This year, for IYD 2024, 4-H Nepal is organizing the Intergenerational Dialogue Forum on August 13th in Kathmandu, aligning with the UN theme "From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development."
The Intergenerational Dialogue Forum is a platform where 100 youths from across the country will gather to engage in dialogue with Parliamentarians. The main objective of the event is to act as a bridge between the youths and the parliamentarians, reducing the gap between different generations to enhance youth participation in sustainable development. The event will include top celebrated parliamentarians and 5-7 youth panelists from different places of the country. The forum will feature experience sharing by the parliamentarians and the panelists about their political journeys. The Youths will have a golden opportunity to ask their questions to the parliamentarians fostering a dynamic and engaging dialogue between the two. The forum aims to address key topics such as-
