Kathmandu University, School of Arts, Department of Art and Design invites you to the opening of RHIZOMES: MFA Thesis Show at Nepal Art Council Gallery, Babar Mahal, Kathmandu on Monday 5: 30 PM, 8 July 2024.
Prof Dr. Bhola Thapa, Vice Chancellor, Kathmandu University will grace the occasion as our Guest of Honor.
This exhibition is the culmination of two years of both academic and creative work. The range of works on display are diverse and reflect the unique positions and interests of the individual artists. The differences in terms of the forms and content hide a much richer interconnection of practices, skills, process and ideas. They are entangled and enmeshed in webs of our making. As a result, the knowledge being displayed ranges from the affective, experiential, and emotional to the scholarly and systematic structures of academia. All of this serves the purpose of expression, creation and exploration. The attempt here is to produce knowledge and reconnect it in the service of better approaches, better sensorial experiences and better conceptions that can help shape our world.
Unlike the more academically oriented Master of Arts programs, a Master of Fine Arts is centred on individual artistic practices in addition to scholarly pursuits within a field of interest. This show thus caters to both – exhibitions of the various ways that we have materialized what was in us and conversations on the various
thoughts that have animated and directed the materialization.
