The Health Informatics Lab, Kathmandu University proudly presents HackForUHC 2026, a national hackathon focused on Digital Innovation for openIMIS. The event brings together creative minds to develop impactful digital solutions that strengthen healthcare systems through innovation in health insurance systems, clinical compliance, financial reconciliation and healthcare service delivery.

Participants will collaborate in teams to tackle real-world healthcare technology problems while showcasing their technical and problem-solving skills. With exciting tracks, meaningful challenges and a competitive prize pool, HackForUHC 2026 is an opportunity for innovators and developers to create solutions with real impact.

Track 1: SSF Expansion & Financial Loop

  • Automated data-matching and reconciliation pipeline connecting OpenIMIS claim bundles with SOSYS bulk-payment logs
  • Real-time visibility into successful transfers, partial payments, failed transactions and financial anomalies

Track 2: HIB Smart System Track

• Dynamic Provider & Benefit Registry
  • Flexible configuration engine for evolving health benefit packages and accredited healthcare facilities
  • Validation system to prevent invalid claims and service entries at the point of data entry

Track 3: Clinical Compliance & Standards Core

• Intelligent ICD-to-Service Mapping
  • Contextual auto-complete and validation for ICD diagnosis codes, medications, procedures and billed services
• Real-Time STP Compliance Checker
  • Rule-based validation engine for national Standard Treatment Protocols (STPs) and claim legitimacy scoring
